Just read that Best Buy is starting a program to take your electronic products even if you didn't buy them there:

Consumers will be able to bring in up to two gadgets per day at the participating Best Buy stores. The list of acceptable items includes computer processors, computer monitors and televisions with screens up to 32 inches. Console televisions, air conditioners, microwave ovens and other large appliances won’t be accepted.

This will be cool. You have to go to the website to see which stores are doing it, not all are are participating.

The trial, expected to be announced Monday, covers 117 Best Buy stores scattered across eight states.

That's good info. I have a few such appliances that are cluttering my garage.

Thanks!

Best Buy is taking recyclable electronics. I just threw away a bunch of cell phones and had to trash a computer. Hmm, I wonder if they will use the parts and refurb stuff. I doubt it though. Well I am going to drink my Green Tea right now.

I would bet 'someone' will be recycling some of the parts for use in future electronics. Capacitors aren't much more than carbon inside a plastic container but yet some of the big one's can cost $25/unit in an electronics store. Certain microprocessors might be very common as well again at costs of $10-100 you can bet they'll be recycled in small appliances.

I totally agree with you. But hey, if quality remains as good or better and cut cost, then I'm for it.
